Robert Grant, Scottish astronomer, studied at King's College. The present work first appeared in parts in the Society of Useful Knowledge in 1848-9. In 1852 it was reissued in its complete form (this work). Grant became director of the University of Glasgow Observatory. He was awarded the Gold Medal of the Royal Astronomical Society, 1856, and in 1865 elected a Fellow of the Royal Society.Kategorien:
